The Minnesota Orchestra returns to Music Director Osmo Vänskä’s homeland for two performances at the Helsinki Festival – the only American orchestra participating this year.  Each year, one violinist is invited to perform the Sibelius Violin Concerto as part of the festival.  This year it will be Viktoria Mullova with the Minnesota Orchestra.  The Orchestra’s concerts on August 27 and 28 will also include works by Barber, Beethoven, Mahler and Stravinsky.
